What could be funnier than taking an Austin 1100, slapping an MG badge on it, and selling it to the yanks?

To be fair the Austin was sold as a Riley, Wolseley, Vanden Plas and Morris also.
The funny thing for me is the Austin 1100 was also sold as the Austin 1100 America in the U.S.

Americans got the best of all - the Austin Marina. Because nobody in the U.S. remembered what Morris was.

I had to classify my Mini as a Marina with Allstate when I first got it.
“Mini” was not one of the drop down options after “1974" and “Austin”

Depending on the episode he either had a Maxi or an 1100.

One of those even has the posh automatic option, not a thing commonly seen.
A four speed AP/BL box designed originally for the Mini. Rarely seen now as parts are unobtainable.

They really do look cool though. It’s a shame about the quality.

Fortunately, they aren’t too hard to repair, except for the suspension. That’s the advantage of using 1950s technology in the 1970s.
